Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner Review

I’ve been using the Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner for about five years. In general, I’m a fan of Davines products as you can see from this review, and this review, and this review. But this is the conditioner that I always go back to after trying something else.

Mia’s review: I love the smell and the color of the Davines Love Conditioner! The smell is kinda flower-y and perfume-y but not overpowering at all. I would be okay with it having an even stronger smell.

I also like that it is thick enough that it comes in a container instead of a bottle. I’ve used masks (masks, not conditioners) from other brands that are in containers. But they were so thin and runny that it was hard to scoop out with my hands. This conditioner is nice and thick so you can scoop out just the right amount. A little goes a long way. One container lasts about 2 months for me and I have shoulder length hair. I also shampoo/condition my hair 5 times per week.

I have straight, thick hair and this conditioner leaves it feeling softer. This is one of the primary things I look for in a hair conditioner. I can’t say if it actually smoothes (my hair is already smooth) but it definitely doesn’t make my hair frizzy.

Lastly, I put this into the COSDNA database to look at the safety of individual ingredients and it scores pretty well. I spent a lot of time looking at other salon brand conditioners and I didn’t find any that scored as well (besides a few from Kerastase).

Update May 2018: I’ve had some weird hair texture changes (see this post for more details about how my straight hair is now wavy) so I decided to try the Love Curly Conditioner. I like this even more than the smoothing version. It has the same lovely scent, is more moisturizing, and leaves my hair feeling even softer.

My hair used to be straight but now it is wavy. My mother claims that as a baby my hair was wavy and my hair dresser claims hair texture can randomly change with age.

Thanks! I have long, thick, wavy hair that is constantly fighting frizz and curls. My goal with my shampoo/conditioner is to make it as “straight” and smooth as possible. Which of the two Love conditioners would you recommend?

The one for curly hair. It is more moisturizing. But if you don’t use Davines exclusively, you might want to try Living Proof products. I find their stuff, especially the anti-frizz line, straightens out my hair a bit. Go to Sephora and ask for a sample.
