In our pursuit of the best bar soap that you can use on the face and body, we’ve ended up with Vanicream Cleansing Bar. It is marketed as being for sensitive skin and being free of dyes, lanolin, fragrance, parabens and is non-comedogenic. This seems to be highly recommended by dermatologists and has received pretty good reviews from most of the folks over at MUA for use as a facial cleanser.
pH Level: 5.5
V’s review: Using Vanicream cleansing bar as a face wash in the shower has worked out well. It doesn’t cause any breakouts or leave my skin feeling tight. It lathers well and the smell isn’t too strong. Towards the end, once the bar has become much smaller, it kinda mushes up. It doesn’t, like other bar soaps, just become a sliver of soap.
Using it as an overall body cleanser has also worked great. Unlike some of the fancy/handmade soaps I’ve tried, this one leaves the body clean.
Mia does not use this because she prefers to use liquid facial cleansers.
We’ve switched mostly because of the price. We can purchase three bars of Vanicream for the same price as one bar of the soap we had been using.
