I’ve been using a P50 lotion for nearly 4 years. I started with the P50V 1970, then P50 , and have used P50V for the past couple of years. I recently decided to try P50W because I don’t really have acne and have skin that is on the drier side and prone to redness. I’ve seen P50W advertised as being for sensitive skin, rosacea-prone skin, and also drier mature skin. And I’ve also seen P50V advertised as being for dry and sensitive skin. Either way, I believe P50W is the gentlest formula.
Mia’s review: Over time, I’ve been switching to gentler formulas of P50 because I use it twice a day and also use tretinoin one per day in the evening. I let the lotion P50 sit on my skin for 15 minutes before applying tretinoin. I was a little concerned that switching to P50W might actually result in some break-outs because it would work less well compared to other formulas. I’m happy to report that at least for me, there is no change in my skin. When I do have issues, it still burns in those spots just like P50 and P50V.
I’ve been using P50W for a few months now and when I first started using it, I thought that my skin looked less red. But, that might’ve been wishful thinking because my skin still looks a bit red and I think it will always look red no matter the products I use. Partly genetics, partly a really bad IPL treatment that left me with much more redness than before the IPL.
I started using P50W in July/August so I don’t think warmer weather will result in breakouts and the need for me to use a stronger version of P50. Unless something else changes, I will continue to use P50W just in case it does make my skin a little less red.
Update October 2018: I still use and love the P50W as part of both my morning and evening skincare routines.
